The culture puts into children

At the last time we see your name in the newspapers. You have become one of the popular people of our town. Your name is the famous such as Valery Panov, Vladimir Shainski, Leonid Ptashka and many others. What is the secret of your success?

I studied in Moscow at the well-known musicians. I have received the perfect piano education. Also I have graduated the Odessa musical school by Stoliarivski,institut by Gnesins in Moscow, then post-graduate course in the Moscow conservatory. In a short I was studying about 19 years. Then I worked 10 years as the soloist of the Estonian Philharmonic Society. I am the winner of All-Union and International competitions on the piano speciality. In the Formed Soviet Union my name was well known. Only the Soviet government didn't let me go abroard on the performances. Once on the question "Have you got any relatives abroad?" I answered :"Yes". Since this time I had one permission to go to the Finland. And all my family wanted for a long time to come back in Israel. Only in 1990 I have arrived in Israel, in Ashdod with my family and two grand piano concerts.ìàòåðèàëû àøäîäñêîãî ñàéòà www.teleor.net 
How was your absorption? Isn't simple to be a new repatriate for the well - known pianist?

Undoubtedly! First at all it was "ulpan". In a some months after my arrival I have won the competition against the famous conductor. About 5 years I had taught in the Tel-Aviv Academy, I was 11 years in the Art School in Tel Aviv. So I wanted to add that I liked Ashdod very much and we decided to move in .I have receive the invitation to work in the Ashdod conservatory "Akadma". On the 40-ty anniversary of Ashdod the Israel symphonic orchestra has come in Ashdod and the musicians have taken the the grand piano for me. This evening I was playing the piano.It was the first Chaikovski concert for the piano with orchestra. So I liked to tell you that they had used my grand piano on all the concerts.. By the way, one curious detail, when we have arrived in Ashdod , our first night I have been in the street near my lovely piano in the street.(We couldn't enter in our rent flat) . Next morning we took it trough the window,because it didn't pass in the door.
Many years I was the member of jury on the number international competitions.

And what about the second grand piano? Where is it?

It's the whole history, too. The second grand piano hadn't come in the flat and it have put in a hall of "Vizo" club. There I began to arrange concerts. 8 years ago I have organized the musical season-ticket which name can be translated from Hebrew as "Salute to the grand piano"! In the 1992-1993 years it was the only hall in the Ashdod city. The hall was overflowed during concerts, everyone were sitting on the plastic chairs. The tickets were bought up quickly. Then the club "Yud" was opened. There were many efforts for attract public. Now I am working in Ashdod music centre "Monart". Here there is a very cozy chamber hall on the 150 men. It has a wonderful acoustics also.

Ianina, tell me, please more in detail, about competition, which recently passed and about the conservatory itself.. 

You know, I am proud of what we do in our music centre. You see the city is not only roads and buildings , but also the culture enclosed in our kids by us, in the future of the city, and perhaps for all country.

If we don't sow in the culture, who knows what seeds will grow on the streets.. I suppose that the present education isn't possible without listening alive music , to spend competitions, to practice open-class lessons, given by teacher plus the talented children. We have a good technique and it works many years. You see Russian piano school is considered as one of the best in the world.
It is necessary to use it. You see without culture, Ashdod looks like as a province . And our city has in luck 
There are many professionals of the high quality working here.

They have one opinion that, if the child does not have " a good ear" for music he doesn't need to study music.

It isn't absolutely the truth. The modern technique approves there are no unable people, there are people, with the undeveloped musical culture. We are working with 3-years old kids according new education system of the musical taste. We have more that 500pupils and 65 % from them are Russian-speakers children.. It is necessary to learn the child to think with music in his head. Also we try to teach them to love, to understand and to appreciate music. These techniques are develop the memory, the coordination, the concentration. There is the children's chorus, chamber ensemble. There is a musical theatre as well. We achieve improbable results. It 's confirm by competitions, which we have annually. We feel the large support from the city municipality and especially we want to say :"Thank you so much" to Vladimir Gershov, G.Feldman and another's.

We spoke about results. What are they?

We spend about 5 years some competitions for children from 7 till 19 years old.. At the first it was the city competition and now it is regional one , which will be from Ashkelon up to Rehovot. But we don't want to stop.
We have a dream to do it as Israel competition. For this purpose we have all conditions: such as a demand of the young pianists, which would like to try their forces. Competition is financed partially by municipality of city and sponsors, in particular by the Development Ashdod Company, which heads by Vladimir Gershov. The purpose of this competition to encourage of the talented children, their work, their future success. Realy during the competition the guys don't compete so much with each other. They are friendly "sick'' one for another. They support their friends from all their hearts.. As well we have a prize of spectator sympathies. About 60 guys from our region took part in this competition. It is impossible to list all talented guys. I want to pay attention that the jury of competition is the professionals of a high level. Vaag Papyan is the pianist and the conductor, ( he plays with Vengerov). He teaches in Tel-Aviv Academy , conducts and plays in many countries of around the world. Urii Logachev is the most popular "shopenist" in Israel. . He has let out a disk with Shopen products. The doctor Adi Roaenkratz teaches in Tel-Aviv musical academy by Rubin..

Tell us, please, about the payment in the conservatory. 
it's not so simple for most of parents in our trouble time isn't it?

- The training in our conservatory costs 400 shekels per month. But always there is an opportunity of the discount. The question of payment of each pupil is considered individually. For especially talented children we try to find the sponsors to pay their training. It is not enough of that, not all parents can buy the piano, and therefore we find an opportunity that children were engaged here on the good instrument. I want to say to the parents: don't give back children in private music teachers 'hands.

- Why do you think that private teachers won't give the sufficient knowledge for pupils?

- I am against the private (individual) system in the music education. We are with checking the development of each child together. I and also the teacher and , of course, we are checked by ministry of culture. If the child does not advance, we arrange to understand, why it occurs. We are able to give the child to make musical "bagrut" on the 5 units. By the way, music" bagrut" is equated to the examination in physics and mathematics. We give them solfeggio and theory. Each of our teacher specializes on the separate structure, and it enables all time to lift his professional level. There are studies in the chorus and the musical ensemble. So the child vote and hearing develops. The children play" in four hands", take lessons of the composition and improvisation. Each child has 2 times per year the examinations and offsets. Our conservatory is considered as one of the best in Israel. We are training about 150 pianists. And it is very important. The individual teacher at all desire can't give the child all of it. And you see music is the huge world, where everything is connected. Therefore I want to invite children again in the world of music. This world is huge and generous. It's possible to study in Ashdod conservatory "Àcàdmà" since 4 years. 
There are some specialties: piano, string, wind-instruments , guitar, jazz, electronic tools.
Adults can receive musical "bagrut"(school-leaving certificate).
The Ashdod conservatory "Akadma" exists 37 years. More 600 young musicians study here.

Competition
The 5-th regional competition of the young pianists "Musical Olimp" had passed in the Ashdod conservatory from the 29 of June until the 3-rd of July. 
As well as last years, the artistic director of competition was the pianist Ianina Kudlik. The competition has opened by the celebratory concert of the young pianists - winners of Israel music competitions. " Keren Sharet " and "Maestro". 

In the jury were the well known Israel musicians such as Urii Logachev , Vaag Papian and Adi Rozenkraz.
